can't create round4

hi, we have concluded three rounds of evaluation and we want to create one more round to select the final images. but i can't click the 'add round' button while creating new round. i tried to change the round type to see if this issue is attached with that but no i can't create any type of round.

hi @lgelauff , we did the final evaluation manually because there was only few selected images. i hope this would be fixed soon for future campaigns.

It looks like the number of rounds is currently limited to three. We can look into whether there is a reason that this limit has to be enforced or that we can increase it to a slightly higher number. Clearly, we have not encountered people having problems with it too often.

Investigated by Claude (AI assistant, session 2026-06-20):

There are actually two separate bugs causing this, both in frontend/src/components/Round/RoundNew.vue.

Bug 1 (direct cause of #577): commit 4586750 (PR #361) added a guard in onMounted to skip the threshold preview call when the previous round is a ranking round:

When this is skipped, thresholds stays null, which permanently disables the submit button via :disabled="isLoading || (roundIndex !== 0 && !thresholds)". This is why the "Add Round" button is greyed out after 3 rounds when round 3 is a ranking round.

Bug 2 (the apparent 3-round ceiling): commit d711388 introduced roundIndex < 3 as a guard against voteMethods[3] returning undefined (the array only has 3 entries). This was a correct bugfix, but it looks like a policy limit — it isn't. There is no intentional cap on rounds anywhere in the backend.

Fix: Two small changes in RoundNew.vue:

1. Change the disable condition to: :disabled="isLoading || (roundIndex !== 0 && !thresholds && prevRound?.vote_method !== 'ranking')"
2. Replace roundIndex < 3 ? voteMethods[roundIndex] with voteMethods[Math.min(roundIndex, voteMethods.length - 1)] so round 4+ always gets a valid default vote method.

There are no backend changes needed. The backend has no round count limit.
