Topic request: Lightning

Optech is a great resource for people who would like to learn about bitcoin ecosystem. It will benefit from a good high level introduction to lightning.

In a future update to how our topic system works, I plan to add "category overview pages" as mentioned in #721 (comment) . We already have a category for "Lightning Network" so that update will likely include a short summary about LN. I doubt I'll write about it in depth---there's a lot to say!---but it will be editable by anyone who does want to provide that summary.

I don't have a timeline on when that might happen (but I can definitively say it won't be in October).
